Malankara Orthodox Almaya VediAims This movement is a laymen initiative for removing certain deviations in Malankara Orthodox Church from its original Nazarani heritage and teaching of St. Thomas, due to the intrusion of western interference and teachings. It is also meant for protecting the constitutional and tradition based writes of the laymen and for educating them on their responsibilities. This movement called in Malayalam "Akhila Malankara Orthodox Almaya Vedi" pledges its loyalty and allegiance to the Malankara Orthodox Church founded by Apostle St. Thomas and its Supreme prelate Moran Mar Besalius Marthoma Catholicos reigning on the throne of St. Thomas and its Indian - Marthoma heritage. Aims The laymen of this Church have been side line from the mainstream of the Church during the recent years. The main aim of this forum is correct the situation. Along with this main aim the forum endeavour for increasing the zeal of faith and loyalty to the Church. Due to the failure in ensuring proper pastoral care the laymen are straying into other faiths and if this has to be prevented there is need for giving the laymen a meaningful role in the Church life. The interested parties in the Church hierarchy is prolonging the litigations endlessly for serving their selfish interest. This is resulting in the Church straying away from its real goals in order to come out of this mess there has to be a movement with emphasis on laymen and the renaissance movement has to be activated for this purpose. The movement has put forth a 20 point programs for this purpose; 1 To reform the constitution of the Church and make it more in tune with the times. 2 Transfer of Metropolitans and their retirement to be implemented forthwith. 3 To stop the Metropolitans acquiring private property. 4. To make the functioning of the Theological
Seminaries more modern in administration and bring 5 Make the educational institutions of the Church accessible for the common man. 6 Working committee of the Church to be appointed only from the Managing Committee of the Church. 7 Make the appointment of the Administrative personal of the Church owned institutions more transparent. 8 Implement a centralized Audit system 9 Strengthen the media wing of the Church. 10 Proper system of ensuring that only genuine people are appointed the clergy positions. |
